DIY Clean: Homemade Laundry Soap {Valentine Edition}
Laundry meet homemade laundry soap (the new + improved version)
Laundry soap meet laundry
See suds fly
It was love at first spin ;)
Although I have posted a diy laundry detergent on the blog, when I saw this happy, pink bar of Zote at Walgreens, I knew I wanted to make a Valentine's Day version of the classic :)
Zote was new to me, but the $1.49 price tag and MORE WHITENING POWER on the side sold me! Plus, after reading more about this beloved Mexican soap, I was more convinced that it needed to be the main star of my laundry soap!
The recipe is the same (I just used Zote to make it extra fabulous!)
2 cups of soap (FelsNaptha, Zote, Ivory...etc)1 cup borox
1 cup washing soda
The process--
Grate the soap:
Mix it with the borax and washing soda:
Blend it (optional step) and store it:
When you're ready to wash clothes, use 1-2 tablespoons per load.
That's it! Even though it might seem like a lot of work, I can make a batch of detergent that will last me for months in about 20 minutes.
Have you ever made your own laundry soap? I encourage you to give it a "spin" if you haven't :)
Love the pretty pink color!
ReplyDeleteYou know if you microwave the soap for a few minutes, it will puff up and once you let it sit and cool off you can crumble it into a corse powdar so you dont need to grate the soap
