Meet Georgie
When Georgie came to me, she was a bit of an ugly duckling. Not much to say about her back then. She was brown, dated, and boring.
Here she is in her former days:
Her top was bit scratched up so I stripped her down so that she would have a nice smooth finish.
I decided to paint her a soft, pretty gray and try my hand at glazing for the first time. I wanted the glaze to simply accentuate the details, not overpower the piece. I mixed some craft glaze that I bought at Hobby Lobby with some white and black paint until I mixed the right color. I love how the glaze brings out her pretty details.
I decided against buying new hardware and spray painted her former hardware white. Then, on a whim, I decided to glaze the hardware too. I think it added a fun little touch!
Here she is now:
A few days after I had bought Georgie for thirty bucks, the guy told me he had a bedside table that looked just like her. So, he brought that to me and I finished the little one just like her.
I'd love any input!

oh my!!! that is SO up my alley! i love the colors, and the style.... can i buy it???
ReplyDeleteGeorgie is stunning and it was definitely a wise decision keeping the original hardware. Love how the aqua candlesticks "pop" against this. Very eclectic chic.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Lisa
Such a beautiful transformation! I love the turquoise candlesticks.
ReplyDeleteI love the color and I have one similar sitting in my garage. Thinkin' I'll go gray like you did. I'm not sure what to sell it for, hmmm. I sell on CL too and I think maybe I ask too much but we know what went into creating/finding these pieces. On CL seems like everyone is looking for a bargain. If this were sitting in a high end boutique, I bet you would get an easy 600 for both pieces. Let me know what you do wind up selling it for. Good luck, it really is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI really love these pieces. If I had the room I would seriously consider buying them! I probably wouldn't accept less than 350-400 for the pair. They're probably worth more but I don't know if anyone would buy them for more because people are CHEAP. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYour furniture turned out really nicely. I am terrible at pricing, so I won't even try, but I hope you get some good advice from others!
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteGood gracious! I looove Georgie!!! What an adorable set! She's gorgeous! I love the gray color with the glazing, and the hardware looks perfect painted white!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely I am such a fan of this furniture. It is timeless. Good job
ReplyDeleteIt looks FANTASTIC! Congrats on a great first job with glazing!
ReplyDeleteI found you through Cassie @ Primitive @ Proper and I just wanted to stop by and tell you how beautiful your buffet is! I can't wait to check out some of your other projects, oh and I am loving that you name them all:)
ReplyDeletebeautiful! Really very lovely, you did a great job :)
ReplyDeleteI think she turned about beautiful. I really like the grey. You must have worked really hard on this. Good Job!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! i love the color. I have a similar piece sitting in garage. Trying to decide between gray or a blue-gray color. I am leaning more towards the gray now, the glazing really brought out those gorgeous details. Lots of work, but I wouldn't have any idea on pricing the furniture. Probabaly around $400. I hope you get some good advice from the more seasoned bloggers out here who sell furniture. Looking forward to spending some time reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteJust left an antique mall, where a vendor had ALL this grey furniture (not even as nice as yours.. honestly) and my friend bought two end tables for $400... this is gonna make her sick! wish you were local to get these!
ReplyDeleteTHEY LOOK GREAT LOVE THE LINES OF THE FURNITURE. AND YOU CHOSE A GREAT COLOR FOR THEM
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I'm wanting to try gray on a piece. It's just so soothing and calm. These turned out great!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I'm no help in the pricing department!
30 bucks! You did a wonderful job with her. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm having so much trouble with Gray! Do you mind sharing what color/brand that is? It's beautiful!
