White...no orange...no Turquiose!
Here's a wooden tray that I found at the thrift store and picked up for a delightful price! Excuse the awful picture :)
I knew I wanted to paint it and try glazing for the first time (it has such fabulous nooks and crannies). I start with white and a grey glaze. I wasn't in love. Then, I tried an orange (which was horribly bright!) and used a stain to glaze. I didn't like it. I had picked up a turquoise/aqua acrylic paint and just decided to slather it on top of the orange. I realized that I loved how the orange popped out under the turquoise and brought out the details! Finally, I was actually happy with it! I used stain to lightly glaze and help it tone down a bit. Of course, I gave it some final protection with some wipe-on Poly: Here's the final outcome:
I love how it turned out!
